Making Birthdays Memorable Since 1986
Frequently Asked Questions
How much space do you need?
Having performed over 2000 birthday parties, I'm able to adapt to almost any
situation. Typically an area 6' by 8' to setup my equipment and enough room for
the children to sit comfortably on the floor. Usually, your living room is the
perfect place for this.
How much time is required to setup?
I will arrive approximately 15 to 20 minutes before show time to setup my
equipment.
What age group do you perform for?
I take pride in that each show is specifically geared towards your age group.
What a 4 year old finds entertaining is certainly not the same as a 12 year
old. Your show will be custom tailored so that all the magic is age
appropriate.
Can I video tape the show?
You Betcha! As a matter of fact, I encourage it.
Do you have party invitations?
Yes. Just Click Here to open a printable PDF invitation.
Do you wear a top hat and cape?
No. First and foremost it is not within my character and performance style. Secondly young children are not accustom to
seeing people in top hats and capes, and can easily become frightened. The older children will most likely see it as just
not cool. Think about when was the last time you saw a magician wearing a top hat and cape? Probably never.
Do you require a deposit?
When your program is booked you will be sent a show confirmation, at which time a $100 deposit is required to secure
the date. I'd be very leery of any performer not requiring a deposit. I've heard of a few performers canceling birthday
parties to take higher paying engagements. If you secure your date with me, you can rest assured I'll show up and show
up on time.
Do you make balloon animals?
I use to make balloon animals, and found that the kids would often pop the balloons before they even left the party. The
last thing you want is children going home crying because their balloon animal went POP. With my deluxe birthday party
package all the kids leave with magic tricks, something that's fun, lasts and really makes the party memorable. Did you
know that balloons are a choking hazard for young children?
When's a good time to have you begin your show?
Since it's your party, you may do whatever you'd like. However, I do recommend having the magic show first, then the
cake and ice cream, and save the birthday presents for last. This is normally the best structure to follow, and works very
well. A good general rule of thumb is to have the show begin about a half hour after the party is to begin. This prevents
distractions from late arriving guests.
Can you perform the show outdoors?
Yes, but I don't recommend it. You want everyone involved to enjoy the program, and not be uncomfortable due to
excessive heat, cold or have to worry about a sudden rain storm. After over 20 years of performing at birthday parties,
I've found that the indoor show always works best.
Are you the low cost entertainer?
Magicians, and other birthday party performers are perceived as a dime a dozen - a commodity - by many party
planners, and because of this they try to find the lowest priced performer. I’ve been a full time professional entertainer
for over 20 years and have performed over 5000 shows. I have thousands of hours and dollars invested in my business.
If your shopping for the cheapest performer around, then I’m probably not the entertainer for you. As a general rule, a
performer who advertises the lowest price in town should raise major red flags. Also keep in mind, a magician with a lot
of expensive props does not guarantee a great magician.
What area do you serve?
All of the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Birthday parties outside the area will require an additional travel fee.
